The rich and multidimensional repertoire of the distinguished Cypriot soprano Mariza Anastasiades extends from the Middle Ages to the Modern Era.
Her career includes collaborations with renowned conductors and artists from Europe and America. In September 2021, as part of the Cyprus International Festival, she performed the leading role of Bonadea in the contemporary opera Argos Sidiros by Andys Skordis, with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Zoe Tsokanou.
Ms. Anastasiades has interpreted important operatic roles, including the Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro by W. A. Mozart at the Greek Opera Festival (2017), Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi by G. Puccini with the Varna International Orchestra under Gregory Buchalter, Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell, and the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors by Gian Carlo Menotti, a Kyrenia Opera production held in Vienna in December 2021.
In November 2022, she collaborated with conductor Günter Neuhold in a concert of Czech repertoire with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. In 2018, she appeared in a gala concert with the Prague State Opera Orchestra conducted by Richard Hein, as part of the Prague Opernfest with the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also performed with the Danube Symphony Orchestra under Andreas Déak at the Danube Palace Concert Hall, and with conductor Pál Németh and the Savaria Baroque Orchestra in Budapest.
Ms. Anastasiades has received awards in several Pan-European and International Singing Competitions, including First Prize at the Concours de musique du Canada – Section Mauricie et Centre du Québec (June 2021) and the Grand Prix at the Stojan Stojanov-Gančev Singing Competition.
Upcoming engagements include her participation at the Vienna Opera Festival and her portrayal of Maria Callas in a production by Cypriot playwright Paul Lambis, which will take place in New York, London, and Cyprus.
Alongside her performing career, Mariza Anastasiades is passionately devoted to music education. Since 2015, she has been a member of the faculty at the Nicosia Music School, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Culture, while also teaching at the University of Nicosia and the ARTE Music Academy.
She inspires her students — from young children to university-level singers — to embrace artistry, discipline, and creativity. Her students frequently participate in competitions, festivals, and concerts across Europe, as performance is an integral part of her teaching philosophy.
